Travel: MGM Studio at Walt Disney World Orlando

MGM is our first stop in Disney. One day should be enough for the visit. The open hour for Saturday December 22th is from 9am to 8pm.

Here’s the sequence of what we did today:
(***= highly recommended, **=recommended, *= ok)
(0) Arrive 9:00am
(1) High School Musical 2: School’s Out (9:35pm) (*)
(2) Jedi Training Academy (near Star Tour) (*)
(3) Star Tour: (9:55am) (**)
(4) The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (10:50am) (***)
(5) Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular (11:30am) (***)
(6) Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage (12:15pm) (**)
(7) Lights, Motors, Actions! Extreme Stunt Show 1:20pm (***)
(8) The Great Movie Ride 2:30pm (*)
(9) Hollywood Holly-Days Parade 3:00pm (***)
(10) Voyage of the Little Mermaid 3:40pm (*)
(11) The Magic of Dinsey Animation 4:10pm (*)
(12) Fantasmic 6:30pm (***)
(13) Street of America Light Dancing Show 7:30pm (***)

We got a fast pass for the “Star Tours” when we got in – that was proven to be a mistake since the waiting line was not that long. We should have gotten the most popular rides first. Eventually we didn’t ride on the most popular “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.”

A general suggestion is to stop at the “Tip Boards” once in a while to see how long is the line for each attractions. Notice all the “FP” (fast pass) sign on the board or the guide map to determine which FP you want to get first.

Another general suggestion would be: get the fast pass for the “rides”, especially for the popular ones. In the MGM, the popular ones are “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster” and “The Twilight Zone Tower of Zero.” Fast pass for the “shows” are good if you want to get good seats.

For Fantasmic, get in around 45min before the show so that you can get a seat. We arrived at 5:00pm for the 6:30pm show – the field did not filled up until 6:00pm. If you really want to get a centered seat, then go earlier. However, I personally think that the show is good enough to watch at all different angles.

During the Christmas time, the light decoration in the Street of America is great!Definitely go and check it out!
